This is also future proof as reverse increment with latest synthetic full backup also being copied using Veeam Backup copy if you intend to have remote site backup repository & also later have a DR or replica site that uses the remote site repository to create replica. At least only increments are taken but a last full synthetic backup is created so you always get the latest full backup. If you are using Veeam B&R 9.x or 10.x for backing ups, I would recommend that you use reverse increment backup. The incremental every 4 hour backup job will hit at 8am, 12pm, 4pm and may affect business but we also need more frequent data protection for these VMs. It really depends on how much change happens on each VM.Ä«etween 8pm and 8am, we could backup this entire time without really affecting business. We have one daily backup job, and one that runs every 4 hours. Our backup jobs complete usually under 15 minutes, but again, we haven't added all our VMs yet, just making sure Veeam is functioning properly first and testing it with a handful of VMs only. If the window is bigger, you don't have a problem and need to spend time elsewhere. If the window is smaller than the times you have a problem you need to address by either scaling up or adjusting your backup window. ![]() ![]() Also, what is your backup window, and how does it compare to your actual backup times?
